Luo is imagined as the scent of the magician. Oriental, uniquely floral, and likened to the transportational experience of heavy incense, it is a formulation that draws one in and stirs movement in the soul. Chinese cedarwood, eaglewood (more commonly known as oudh) and liquorice bark compose the musky, slightly balsamic, resinous, and overall ancient tones in this profile. It is also sweet and rich with an undertone of subtle leather and sun-kissed fruit; osmanthus, star anise and rose geranium weave strong feminine depth throughout these ever-changing layers.
The name ‘Luo’ is inspired by the Chinese legend of Luo Shen, who is known as Goddess of the River Luo. She drowned crossing the river and was transformed into a river deity, said to be of the utmost beauty and elegance.
The perfume also holds an appreciation for Kōdō (香道) meaning ‘the Way of Fragrance’ - which is the Japanese artform and practice of burning incense in a sacred way that transcends the surface of experience. It becomes a dance of the senses and the mind.
Luo is a fragrance meant to be inhaled fully with closed eyes and a receptive perception - it carries the softest most mysterious atmosphere and an essence that transfixes.
the long scarf of a wizard unwraps slowly.
aromas and atoms of the ether’s mystery dance in space
like a trail of holy smoke
leaving the earth,
breaching the heavens.
warm light from above beams through
the skylight of an ancient structure.
raw rosequartz, dead centre -
its soft pink humming frequency
suspending a spell in the air.
the mind is quiet,
the soul is speaking,
an echo of earth’s magnetism pulsates.
held in tender knowing,
the alchemist rests.
