"What's the difference between your perfume oils and 'spray' perfumes? What defines a cologne? What should I choose?" Very frequently asked questions, explored and answered.
Someone once said ‘a name is the shortest poem’. Well, meet the poetry of Boudica. She joined our team many moons ago with a wild first adventure! We journeyed for our first pop-up of the White Lotus at Pangea festival back in 2022. As a Virgo her practical, down-to-earth personality became a grounded voice within Tres. Her patience is reliable. Boudica is defined by the way she moves through life in terms of her awareness - how she interacts with life's unfolding - by her sensitivity and receptivity, and by the lifetimes that she has lived before this one. She goes deep into the layers of the intricate complexity of human existence, which is too vast to summarise. We had...
Lyall Sprong explores the edges where the natural world meets the human perception through abstract works made with terrestrial matter. Lyall draws concepts from textures of the earth, found and gathered on physical paths of exploration, curiosity and open wandering. He relates his way of being to his Piscean nature; “I feel so incredibly liminal, which is one way of understanding a fish in water.” Lyall’s work encourages one to interpret a philosophical conversation, unique to his medium, that is shaped by the energy of the colours and figures in each piece. The rich pigments in his work are sourced from the likes of stone, sand, clay and ash - natural compounds which carry an ancient, earthbound connection. There is...
Brigitte Lilley, our neighbour and cherished friend, is the heart and vision behind By The Light gallery & studio found at Lalaphanzi Farm in Cape Point. Spirited, vibrant and warm, Brigitte mirrors the elemental craftsmanship of her work using clay and botanicals as her medium. The gallery’s name is inspired by the generous light that floods her studio, sharing that when she first relocated she felt “overwhelmed by the amount of light there was, whether it was day, whether it was night. The moonlight, the sunlight, are [both] just so nurturing and dynamic.” Actively working with clay for the last 10 years, Brigitte’s early memories take her back to a pottery class that she attended as a child which took place in...
With Très fragrances currently having a presence in four city spaces - New York, Lisbon, Johannesburg, and our Cape Town store - the influence of scent in the city has been vividly moving through our minds. We’ve been exploring how it captivates, stirs memory and can cause time to stand still, even briefly. Walking the streets of any city is usually a sensory-rich experience of sight, sound and sensation. Along with all the surrounding motion, the city’s scents add a deeper layer of awareness, when we pay attention. [Exhaust fumes; wet tar roads after rainfall; freshly baked goods, roasted coffee and the local flower market; each stranger’s perfume as they walk past, lingering in the mind and at the back...
